"What a great boost to the morale it was for all us “commercial sales troops” when our “General,” Alan Mulally came and spent a little time visiting with us!  There were about seventy people at the Northwest Ford Truck Club meeting, when Ford’s leader came as our guest.  He spent an hour telling us what he felt about the state of Ford’s business and his genuine enthusiasm for the future.

Mr. Mulally is the ultimate ideal of a leader, in my book.  He is very friendly and genuine, enjoys being among people with whom he shares common goals and drives.   His enthusiasm about what he is doing—what we are doing—is very contagious, and everybody there “caught” it!  

He talked candidly, sharing about the current situation in the automobile business in the U.S.  General Motors bankruptcy was in the news.  The government’s role in GM and Chrysler was everywhere.  There were an infinite number of places for him to be—important places—and he chose to be among us fleet / commercial soldiers!
